I talked with Elix and Robert about the possibility to host an event in the late fall. Possibly between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

With this new interest in dance, we need a place to show off your new dancing skills. I suggested to hold a Ball for our local area. This will include holding Court for the Princess and Prince, where they can handle and deal with principality business with the masses. We will have Hors D'ouevres and wine, it will not be a feast, but period treats are recommended.

Since there will be alcohol, I will search for a location that will accomodate both out event and budget (free is best).

I will post an outline of how the event will work and be run. I would also like to ask the masses for date suggestions....what works for you? I would also like to ask Rob Hicks for his help on the dance portion to ensure that this is a fun event.

Sorry guys....no fighting, no art, just a good (really) old fashioned social event where you dress to the nines and come to see and be seen. The Social Elite of Northwatch, this is your oportunity to impress....more to come later!

I have a potential conflict on 12/5 and otherwise am wide open. I can provide you with sets of music, and we can teach every practice between now and then so you feel good doing them.

I'd also recommend possibly checking out my other dance practices and balls, especially Crystal Ball coming up.

I was looking at the weekend of the 12th.

This will be an official ECS event, and im hoping to make this an annual winter event. We do a lot of combat related stuff and there is now an arts event. I think this could be our cultural and social event.

I would like to have period dance as a highlight, but also introduce protocol and court training. The dishes and drinks will not be a major focus as in the Golden Almond and Queen's Tea.

I would like to solicite anyone out there who would be interested in presenting a Bardic piece, either musical or story telling. If you brew period spirits, id like to invite you to come forth and brew!

I am hoping to find a location that will allow for alcohol consumption.

the event will be close to the following. ( feed back is helpful )

1. Meet and Greet - about an hour for guests to arrive and congregate.
2. Announce the Guests of the Principality
a. Guests Pay respects to the Prince and Princess
3. Principality court.
a. Executive reports, principality awards for the year, address the masses, etc
4. Open the snacks and drinks
a. Bardic presentations (if any)
b. Dance Demo by our experts
5. Open Dance and Socialization
a. Dance Instruction
6. Closing Remarks by the court
7. End Event
a. Clean up
If I missed anything, or you would like to add anything or have any ideas, let me know.

For #2, the announcing of the guests can be done as a processional. Where each pairing (if the Lord has a Lady) will enter in accordance to their rank (lowest to highest), their titles and names would be called, and they enter, and (a) bow to the Court.

I really like the idea of having a very formal event, where emphasis is put on court etiquette and chivalric display.

Really looking forward to planning this all out.

I just want to say that I'm thrilled at the aspect of an event that has dance so largely themed. At dance events I've been to;

  • Many dances are trained in hourly classes throughout the day.
  • Caroso balls are held that demonstrate and help facilitate introduction to dance
  • A grand ball in the evening with sets of 5 or so dances spaced with breaks to drink, eat, be social and rest before the next set.

If this event solidifies, I'll work towards enlisting help for the dance portion of this event.

Next Steps

I need to set a date and time and suration

* I am thinking Either Sat Dec 12th or Sat Jan 16th to keep it as a winter event.
* Start at 2pm with registration and set up, 3pm with dance Instruction then social hour, court and grand Ball after 6pm until 10pm

I need to find a location that is either free or will not break the budget, allows wine and ale (not a must but nice to have) and food and is big enough for the event. that is also located to allow for ease of attendance and parking.

I need to outline the event and submit it to our leadership.

Beg for volunteers to teach dance

then market and advertise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
